Hi!

I am having a Halloween/Gothic wedding this year. We are getting married in Vegas and coming back home later for the reception. The reception will not be very formal and everyone will be dressed in some sort of gothic style costume.

I can't decide on a dress. The two styles I really like are listed below. The pics are just to show the skirt. I am getting my corset top from another place.

#1 black one

I really like #1 because it's short in the front and long in the back. It is kind of casual. I think it will be comfy enough to get around/dance in during the reception.

#2

I really like #2 because it is just so damn beautiful. I am wondering if it will restrict my movement too much.

Which do you think would be the most appropriate? Does anyone know of any more dresses in similar styles?

Any opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kristin

  • Hi, and congrats on your wedding!
    OK, my 2 cents:

Skirt #1: Pros --> it's hot and sexy, perfect for a wedding in Vegas; you can recycle it and use it often for going clubbing or dancing; obviously, will be very comfy to wear.
Cons--> maybe it's too casual for an special day such as a wedding day.

Skirt#2: Pros--> It's overly dramatic and oh-so-Victorian!; it's magnificent in design and fabrics.
Cons--> it's not so recyclable as the other one.

Been said that, I would go with number 2. But that's just me.
I am sure you will be gorgeous that day, no matter what clothes you will be wearing :)
    • Here's what I think:

Skirt 1: I agree with the previous comment - it's super sexy and very easy to re-use.

Skirt 2: Gorgeous and definitely even MORE Halloweeny than the first one. I wouldn't think it would hamper your movement too much.

My two cents: it really depends on what style you are going for. Do you feel drawn to a more elegant style, or is the wedding going to be more fun and wild? The first dress is definitely more fun and modern, whereas the second is very romantic and elegant. Consider what the groom is wearing, what your surroundings will be, and who will be there. Which one will fit those things best, and most importantly, what do YOU want? :)

Congratulations and best of luck with not totally stressing out with planning!
  • I like the idea of a long skirt with a bustle. It makes your waist look more cinched in the corset. Perhaps something like what they make at arcadiumclothing.com/ ... What kind of corset are you wearing? Of course acessories are very important as well. Ohhh.... of subject, but wouldn't it be hot to find something like the latex dress that Monica Bellucci wore in the second Matrix... Yeah, a wedding really depends on your personal tastes, the situation, and what kind of relationship you have. Good Luck!

  • The tiny, tiny, teeny weeny part of me, that still holds on to some traditions, says that no 2 is more like a "normal" weddingdress (not so revealing), but my heart beats for no1, which actually is the coolest wedding dress I've ever seen. Since I'm really not very traditional, I'd go for no 1.
  • I think the formality of a wedding, even a wild Vegas one, calls for a full skirt like #2. But I think you should definitely wear skirt #1 to your more informal reception! Besides, that's a perfect excuse to have them both! And skirts ARE easy to make and you can save a considerable amount of money by having them made locally and working with someone in the scene who will understand what you are going for will be easier to deal with than a more traditional bridal boutique!
